Explore the practicality and versatility of modern illustrated maps designed to suit diverse platform sizes. With a focus on geometric minimalism and impactful iconography, my services are rooted in experience gained from developing an Illustrated maps series for the Maine magazine's "48 Hours" column. Whether you aim to enhance your digital presence or refine your printed materials, my approach provides a balanced and effective solution.
Service Explanation:When tasked with creating monthly illustrated maps for the "48 Hours" column, I navigated the challenge of meeting tight constraints in terms of time, budget, and printed page size. The solution involved the strategic use of a family of Wayfinding pictograms, optimizing production time while ensuring readability at smaller sizes. This approach facilitated visual continuity across the series, offering flexibility for creative expression within a unified framework. Inspired by mid-century minimalist maps, particularly the design language of Massimo Vignelli's 1970 NYC transit map, I integrated pictograms from the time period for a touch of timeless design. The result was a series that not only met practical needs but also added a distinctive and visually appealing layer to the client's content.
